Al Fresco Wedding in the Tuscan Countryside

Oh Tuscany,  Tuscany! Among the many destinations in Europe, you are without a doubt the most attractive. I’ll never get tired of picturing you, as couples never cease to get moved while exchanging vows in front of your impressive views! It’s time for another wedding in Tuscany. The protagonists are two French guys looking for a rustic wedding al fresco, where you can breathe all the magical atmosphere of this region. The bride and the groom got ready at Podere Le Meraviglie, a nice farmhouse on the outskirts of Poggibonsi, immersed in the countryside of Siena. After a short civil ceremony in Certaldo in the morning, the couple exchanged wedding rings and vows in the garden of the farmhouse, surrounded by the families and a few close friends. Together, the newlyweds sealed a bottle of wine and two secret letters inside a box, that they will open when their love story requires it!… read more...

English Wedding at Borgo Stomennano

English Wedding at Borgo Stomennano

Among last year’s  fantastic venues, Borgo Stomennano holds a spot in the top. I left a piece of my heart there, and I cannot wait to go back and relive another gorgeous wedding. Borgo Stomennano is located in the province of Siena, very close to Monteriggioni and its impressive castle. To reach the villa, you need to walk a grand avenue surrounded by cypresses. The old charm of the villa is still intact. Its walls are burned and yellowed by the sun, and blooming jasmine climb up the facades of the villa surrounding the old windows. The villa also offers a garden with ancient fountains and a lovely pool, plus many accommodations for couples and their guests. They can choose to spend some time inside the large central house, or in one of the many small villas of Borgo Stomennano. This lovely English couple wanted to celebrate their wedding reception here.… read more...

Engagement Photo Shoot in Chianti

Engagement Photo Shoot in Chianti

A photo shoot in Chianti is an experience to try at least once in a  lifetime. Among the many fascinating places in Italy, the Chianti area is one of the most impressive and well-known. In late August,  nature is at its best. The light is soft, warm and cosy, perfect for intimate portraits. The colours of nature become yellow then turn copper-colored, making the landscapes even more breathtaking. Sunsets are unforgettable. This couple must have thought about this when they decided to take their photographs in the yellowed rolling hills of Chianti. Or maybe they just took advantage of the photo shoot to spend a few days of relaxation and culture in this part of Tuscany. Their engagement photo shoot took place around Certaldo and San Gimignano, in one of the lesser known regions of Tuscany. The bride and groom to be posed between enchanted villages and fabulous landscapes, that inspired the painters of the Renaissance.… read more...

Conti di San Bonifacio Wedding

Conti di San Bonifacio is undoubtedly one of the most attractive wedding venues of Tuscany. You never stop wondering! When I thought I had seen the nicest places there, here comes the chance to work in this incredible estate in the Maremma. This Conti di San Bonifacio Wedding is worth to be told! But first things first. Conti di San Bonifacio is a wine resort located in Gavorrano, in the province of Grosseto. The area is the wildest and unspoilt of Tuscany: the paradise of every photographer. Fields in bloom and orderly vineyards accompany me along the journey on deserted roads. A gate out of nowhere welcomes me; the road begins to climb and, at last, I am in front of the impressive facade of the structure. A large arched wooden door is before my eyes. Above it, the skeleton of the head of a buffalo. I am suddenly aware that one of the strengths of the Conti di  San Bonifacio is the position.… read more...

Garden Wedding at Agriturismo Le Bolli

Attention to detail is one of the prerogatives of every successful marriage. A thoughtful bride already has clear in her mind how her wedding will be well before it begins. She may not always be able to put up all that she’d like, but when she does the celebration is one of those to be remembered for a long time. This is the case of this beautiful ceremony at Agriturismo Le Bolli. The couple, of Italian origins but resident in London, has rented the building to spend a few days in the company of their families and friends from northern Italy. The celebration was just a part of three days of partying. The ceremony took place in the shadow of the great oak. The bride and groom promised each other eternal love in the silence broken only by the sound of a harp and by the applause of their happy guests.… read more...

International Wedding at Antica Fattoria di Paterno

International Wedding at Antica Fattoria di Paterno

Returning to photograph a wedding at the Antica Fattoria di Paterno,  is always a lovely thing! It’s like meeting dear friends after a long time. There is always pleasant news! Since my last visit, the garden and some areas have been partially renovated. The villa, already impressive before these interventions, is now even more functional and enchanting. Villa Paterno is, without a doubt, the most beautiful villa for marriages in Tuscany. The couple of the day has different origins. Although they both live in the United States, the groom’s family is Irish while the bride’s is from the Czech Republic. Their guests arrived in Tuscany from all over the world, taking a few extra days for a vacation in Italy. The ceremony was held in the garden. Unfortunately, a few drops of rain made the wedding planner to move the setting inside at the last minute. But the newlyweds and their guests, already thrilled, hardly seemed to notice it!… read more...

Tuscany Engagement Session in Chianti

Tuscany Engagement Session in Chianti

The Chianti area, in Tuscany, is one of the most enchanting for any photo shoot. The cinema has often used these beautiful sceneries for memorable movies. Among many, I remember well Under the Tuscan Sun, or Letters to Juliet. It’s no surprise then that many couples in love choose the landscapes of the Chianti area for their engagement session. A year wouldn’t be enough to photograph all the wonders of this area. Along the ancient road that leads from Florence to Siena, it is a continuous up and down between the hills yellowed by the sun. Several dirt roads lined with cypress trees peep through the vegetation, getting lost beyond the horizon. Many of these could be the ideal set for numerous love stories, but all lovers of the world would not be enough to shoot all the gorgeous spots of the area. One of the most beautiful couples of this year took the opportunity of a family trip to be happily portrayed during an engagement session in Chianti.… read more...

Chianti Wedding at Villa Il Poggiale

Chianti Wedding at Villa Il Poggiale

Going back to the Chianti area in September is always wonderful. The colours are the classic ones of Tuscan autumn; the vines begin to turn yellow; the leaves on the trees turn red, and the light is the warmest of the entire summer. Also, sunsets in this period are fabulous! I had the chance to enjoy all of this thanks to a Parisian couple, and their elegant wedding at Villa Il Poggiale. Villa Il Poggiale is located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, close to Florence, nestled in the hills of the Florentine Chianti area. It is an ancient historic mansion, which houses a luxury hotel. Few rooms with all amenities make this villa one of the most exclusive residences in Tuscany. In addition to the fantastic pool, Villa Il Poggiale has a lovely terrace garden, where, during the fresh summer evenings, you can spend some time relaxing watching the sunset and enjoying the sounds and the smells of the countryside.… read more...

San Galgano Wedding

San Galgano Wedding

I don’t need even one great reason to shoot a San Galgano Wedding. Memories always make me come back here. As the wine during ageing, they become sweeter and more meaningful. Ciaran and Joanna, from Canada, gave me the reason to return: their wonderful wedding in Tuscany. The Abbey of San Galgano is one of the most fascinating places in Tuscany. This ancient Cistercian abbey of 1300 is located in the countryside of Siena. Its unique feature is also its biggest flaw:  the abbey has no roof, it collapsed centuries ago during a storm. This characteristic leaves speechless thousands of tourists coming all the way from Siena and Florence to see it. The area where the abbey is located is wild. The roads wind through miles of fields, hills, and trails. Silence is the king of these valleys. The wind passing through the ruins is the only sound within the walls of the abbey.… read more...

Wedding Relais La Costa

Wedding Relais La Costa

Relais La Costa is one of the most elegant luxury farmhouses I’ve ever seen in Tuscany. It is located in Monteriggioni, near Siena and a few minutes by car from Florence. It is an old Tuscan style village renovated to perfection, with the main features that make it so charming left unaltered. It setting of on several levels, with small cottages, a terrace, and a rooftop pool. The spouses got ready in the villas of the property. The bride has experienced the most exciting moments before the ceremony along with her maid of honour and the flower girl. The groom instead with his groomsmen. The ceremony was held in the beautiful church of Colle Ciupi, not far from the Relais. The church is very small, in rustic Tuscan style, completely painted on the walls by Duccio di Boninsegna’s students. The photographs do not do justice to the majesty of the paintings.… read more...

Tuscan Wedding At Pieve a Pava

Surrounded by the gorgeous and uninhabited countryside of Val d’Orcia, there are many charming farmhouses. The relaxed lifestyle, the historical background, flower-filled gardens, the Slow Food and good wine make these facilities perfect for relaxing holidays. The love for the authentic and true things of life is breathed in every spot; the affability and kindness of the owners make them perfect for all kinds of events, including weddings. In fact, more and more couples, from all over the world, choose these farmhouses as a location for their celebration. Often this is also a great opportunity to have a short holiday with family and closest friends. If this is what you’re looking for, Pieve a Pava is the ideal venue. The property is located in the hills of Asciano and San Quirico d’Orcia, in one of the most interesting areas of Tuscany. Far from busy roads and surrounded by wild nature, this guesthouse is the perfect place to organise rustic-chic styled weddings.… read more...

Elopement at Villa Vignamaggio

Villa Vignamaggio is one of those places where you could spend an entire lifetime. It is a just renovated old Tuscan-style village near Panzano in Chianti, in one the most picturesque parts of Italy. The property offers rooms for its guests, who spend a few days relaxing in the countryside, making excursions and visiting the most famous wineries in the area. Villa Vignamaggio is also the perfect wedding venue for any photo shoot. The central house, with its pink walls in contrast with the intense green of the vegetation, is ideal for portraits. All around, vineyards, hills and silence: the ultimate dream for every wedding photographer. This lovely Canadian couple decided to celebrate their wedding here. An intimate celebration, which was attended by the photographer, the celebrant and four talented musicians. The ceremony took place in the garden, where the bride and groom promised each other eternal love exchanging wedding rings and vows.… read more...

Romantic San Gimignano Wedding

Romantic San Gimignano Wedding

San Gimignano is one of the most popular destinations for Tuscany for weddings and honeymoons. Its towers, surrounded by hills and cypress trees, are one of the most famous icons of Tuscany in the world. San Gimignano is quite crowded with tourists throughout the year. The stone streets with typical shops, the atmosphere of the country village and the smell of food through the narrow streets leave an unforgettable memory in the hearts of those who visit it. Nearby, nature shows its best. Here you can see the most beautiful sunsets of the entire Chianti area. The hills and dusty roads, lined with cypress trees on the sides, are the perfect backgrounds for great photo shoots. Once I offered to take the wedding portraits here, Claudia and Allan have not felt the need to think twice, and just said yes. These two cute young Brazilians got married in their home country.… read more...

Romantic Tuscany Elopement

Borgo Santo Pietro, the location of today’s wedding, is located in southern Tuscany, the one with round hills and endless fields of sunflowers to admire while strolling along the long roads that run through the countryside. A stone’s throw from the famous Abbey of San Galgano, there’s this fantastic luxury resort that Jenny and Michael have chosen as the venue for their wedding.

The resort consists of a large old villa, which houses the restaurant and the reception, around which the property spreads throughout. Many smaller villas, available for guests, are along roads lined with cypress trees that lead to the large central villa. Thanks to the pool, the gardens, and the services offered, it is the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the quiet of the area. But that’s not all! Borgo Santo Pietro is ideal for a special elopement. Set off from hot Los Angeles for a travelling journey through old Europe, this couple decided to celebrate their wedding here on a warm autumn day.

Intimate Couple Portraits in Tuscany

Intimate Couple Portraits in Tuscany

Tuscany in autumn is one of the most charming areas of Italy. The hills and the landscapes are tinged with red, the leaves quickly turn yellow, and everything becomes more melancholy. The bride and the groom to be couldn’t know it; even if they‘ll get married next year in this area, they had never visited Tuscany in this period. Creating some couple portraits in this season is undoubtedly a winning choice. The engagement session took place on the outskirts of San Gimignano. In the earlier days, it had rained a lot, and this made the colours even more impressive than usual. I took so many couple photos while they walked along the dusty roads of the area, with cypress trees watching over them, and a few images with the fabulous view of the Chianti area in the background. Even though we only met on the same day, it was nice to spend some time together with this friendly English couple.… read more...

Faboulous Wedding at Villa di Liliano in Chianti

Faboulous Wedding at Villa di Liliano in Chianti

Villa di Liliano is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve visited this year. It is an ancient Medici villa, lost in the Florentine countryside, among wild fields and olive groves. It is precisely here that the couple of the day celebrated their wedding. They got ready at the Hotel St. Regis, in the historic centre of Florence. The groom joked around until the last minute with his groomsmen, before putting on his beautiful black suit; the bride was aided by her sister and mother to wear the dress and the bridal veil. They gathered in the garden of the Villa di Liliano, where the groom gazed excited at her as she walked down the lawn towards him. They exchanged vows and rings just before sunset on a warm summer day. Later on, the spouses and families have toasted to their union with the local limoncello, always in the garden. I portrayed the couple inside the villa property, in the most charming and lovely spots.… read more...

Stylish Wedding at Capannelle Winery

Among the many venues for intimate weddings, one of the nicest that I have visited in recent times is the Capannelle Winery. This tiny boutique hotel is located in Gaiole in Chianti, in a fantastic location from which you can enjoy the view of the surrounding hills and the old village. The region is one of the most famous in Tuscany. The Chianti area is undoubtedly renowned worldwide for its excellent wines and its slow food. Millions of tourists flock to this place to spend a few days of quietness, enchanted by the legendary sceneries and the relaxed lifestyle. Capannelle Winery is a luxury resort, with few rooms but large and equipped with every comfort. The property offers a stunning infinity pool and tastings of local wines, including the ones of the resort. The garden is fabulous, with a large central gazebo covered by wisteria vines that give their best in spring.… read more...

Villa Pitiana Wedding

It is always a pleasure to return to Villa Pitiana to shoot a wedding. This wedding venue is one of the most suggestive in the countryside of Florence. Villa Pitiana is located in Donnini, on the hills surrounding Florence, very close to Reggello. It is a large manor house, built in 1200 that can accommodate large and intimate weddings. Villa Pitiana, besides numerous rooms for the newlyweds and guests of the event, also has big gardens and panoramic terraces outdoor, and ancient halls indoor. Each step of the marriage is customizable, thanks to an excellent wedding planner that the Villa offers to the couples. Also, Villa Pitiana might be the perfect place for a marvellous honeymoon. Christie and William fell in love with the villa at first sight and decided to organise their destination wedding here in Tuscany. Villa Pitiana has been the meeting place for friends and families, coming from various countries of the world.… read more...

Rustic Tuscan Wedding

Rustic Tuscan Wedding

I love speeches! I often work with British and American clients, and I find their tradition to dedicate a few words to the newlyweds during the wedding reception something very special. I like to listen to them and, through them, imagine the story of the couple. But did you know that in the Scandinavian tradition, wedding speeches are hours long? I found that out last year, on the occasion of the marriage of a Norwegian couple in Tuscany! I do not speak Norwegian, and to be honest, I was profoundly bored during the reception. And, although the couple I’m talking about today is also Norwegian, it was exciting to photograph them during this phase! The location of this wedding is one of the nicest I’ve ever been to during my career as a photographer. It is the estate of Quercia al Poggio, which is in the middle of Chianti, between remote hills of olive groves, dirt roads surrounded by cypress trees, and ordered expanses of vineyards.… read more...

Al fresco engagement session in Tuscany

Many lovers from around the world, often local, but also American and Asian, choose Tuscany as the location of their engagement session. What is it exactly? Photographer and subjects decide together a location and a theme for the pictures and then take nice portraits in the most beautiful spots in the region. This session may be just an opportunity to stop time and be celebrated in a particular moment of life. A snapshot of the path of a family. Over the years, the engagement session in Tuscany has become for me an opportunity to break the routine of weddings. Spending some time with the couple before the big day let me know them better. I take this opportunity to understand their expectations and their dreams on their best day, to explain in detail how I will work during their wedding, to make sure they get used to my presence and that of the camera.… read more...
