Among the many beautiful locations for civil ceremonies in Tuscany, the Abbey of San Galgano holds a special place in my heart. It is located in Chiusdino, a few kilometres from Siena, in a charming and deserted area. It is a former Cistercian abbey, whose roof collapsed in the past centuries. And that’s precisely what gives the abbey an endless charm.
Millions of tourists visit this attraction every year. Some of them decide to get married right here. This is the case of this beautiful German-Italian couple. The spouses got ready at the estate of Bichi Borghesi, in Scorgiano. An ancient ruined and charming property, that offers its guests rooms and apartments immersed in nature, a riding school and a fabulous red wine produced by local vineyards.
Any wedding photographer could not be happier to photograph in these two beautiful venues. After the civil ceremony, in fact, I pictured the newlyweds inside the Abbey, along the aisles and between the columns in stone.… read more...
What could be the story behind a Siena Wedding? A couple in love, a few witnesses and a location in the heart of real Tuscany. Layna and Daniel come directly from the United States of America, more precisely from the hot California where Layna is a record promoter and Daniel works as an acupuncturist. Their story began five years ago, and from their love were born two beautiful twins who have turned this lovely couple in a fantastic family.
Layna and Daniel have decided to crown their love with a symbolic ceremony in the beautiful Tuscany. Guests in a wonderful location, in the presence of only two witnesses, they have settled their eternal commitment.
Within the walls of an old chapel inside the property the dream of Layna and Daniel became reality.

It was one of the most exhausting things I’ve ever done. In fact, if I had to restart looking for the best Tuscany venue for my wedding, I probably would give up getting married.
Jokes apart, there are so many beautiful locations to choose from and it is not easy to select the most beautiful from the outside, looking at the website or through the reviews of other brides.
I realize that choosing the villa where to organize ceremony and reception is not easy even for us Italians. I can’t imagine how hard it is for those coming from outside who don’t know the territory. Finding a suitable place for both the event and the staying is impossible if you don’t have a contact on the territory.

The only real and unique memory of a wedding day are the photographs.
Every detail, every emotion, every moment will be relived again and again through the images of that day that will accompany you forever. Over time some of the details of your big day will vanish, it is inevitable. You will certainly remember the excitement and joy, the most important moments, friends and families but maybe you’ll forget the color of the ribbon that enveloped the bride’s bouquet for example.
I know it’s a bit sad to think that the memories linked to the wedding will slowly vanish, but it is natural. Your couple will grow and become a family ready to discover and enjoy many other moments of intense happiness. It’s life.
One thing, however, will remain forever: the photographs of your wedding. A precious memory that will acquire invaluable value more and more every day.
Let’s think about how much time is devoted to the organization of a wedding.… read more...
What can be more beautiful after these hot summer days, than a little rest in the shade of a tree in the Crete Senesi? And why, given the opportunity, do not take a picture in front of one of the most beautiful landscape in the world? This couple pictures did. From Canada, they came to celebrate their wedding in the countryside of Asciano. This photo was taken last year. A warm greeting to these wonderful Tuscan Canadian boys!… read more...
Among last year’s fantastic venues, Borgo Stomennano holds a spot in the top. I left a piece of my heart there, and I cannot wait to go back and relive another gorgeous wedding. Borgo Stomennano is located in the province of Siena, very close to Monteriggioni and its impressive castle. To reach the villa, you need to walk a grand avenue surrounded by cypresses. The old charm of the villa is still intact. Its walls are burned and yellowed by the sun, and blooming jasmine climb up the facades of the villa surrounding the old windows. The villa also offers a garden with ancient fountains and a lovely pool, plus many accommodations for couples and their guests. They can choose to spend some time inside the large central house, or in one of the many small villas of Borgo Stomennano.

Please see below some photos from a lovely wedding at Villa Di Catignano. The couple got ready into the property, before walking down the aisle for a symbolic blessing.
The portraits of the newlyweds have been taken in the garden, before sunset. The dinner took place in the courtyard!

The Castello di Casole is a masterpiece. It is the venue that Lupe and Jose, our protagonists today, chose for the photographs of their engagement session.
It is located in the province of Siena, in southern Tuscany. The area is almost entirely untouched by human intervention. Coming here I’ve met very few cars; miles and miles of roads surrounded by fields and rolling hills scorched by the heat of August.I realise that this is an ideal place for exploring Tuscany. I am just a few minutes away from the beautiful Abbey of San Galgano and the centre of Siena. In 40 minutes I can be in the heart of Florence, and going the other way, on the golden beaches of the Maremma.
The colours of early autumn are beautiful: a palette from yellow to brown, mottled by the dull green of the cypresses and vineyards heavy with grapes ready to be harvested.Once arrived, I realised that the castle, in fact, is not here.… read more...
What’s more Tuscan than a wedding on the wonderful Crete Senesi? Among the magic colors of Tuscany, its rolling hills, and its unforgettable sunsets, Erika and Nick promised each other their eternal love during an amazing La Bandita Wedding.
Completely immersed in the Siena hills near Pienza, La Bandita welcomes you like a house full of friends, lots of comfort, modern and minimalist in cheerful decor, with relaxing light colors. A place that leaves you amazed, a place where you can taste the real Tuscany, through nature, good food and fine wine.
The families of Erica and Nick gathered here to celebrate this lovely couple. Among the kindness of friends and family we photographed the ceremony and reception in the beautiful garden which lay under one of the bluest skies we’ve ever seen.

Among the many venues for intimate weddings, one of the nicest that I have visited in recent times is the Capannelle Winery. This tiny boutique hotel is located in Gaiole in Chianti, in a fantastic location from which you can enjoy the view of the surrounding hills and the old village. The region is one of the most famous in Tuscany. The Chianti area is undoubtedly renowned worldwide for its excellent wines and its slow food. Millions of tourists flock to this place to spend a few days of quietness, enchanted by the legendary sceneries and the relaxed lifestyle.
Capannelle Winery is a luxury resort, with few rooms but large and equipped with every comfort. The property offers a stunning infinity pool and tastings of local wines, including the ones of the resort. The garden is fabulous, with a large central gazebo covered by wisteria vines that give their best in spring.… read more...
Attention to detail is one of the prerogatives of every successful marriage. A thoughtful bride already has clear in her mind how her wedding will be well before it begins. She may not always be able to put up all that she’d like, but when she does the celebration is one of those to be remembered for a long time.
This is the case of this beautiful ceremony at Agriturismo Le Bolli. The couple, of Italian origins but resident in London, has rented the building to spend a few days in the company of their families and friends from northern Italy. The celebration was just a part of three days of partying. The ceremony took place in the shadow of the great oak. The bride and groom promised each other eternal love in the silence broken only by the sound of a harp and by the applause of their happy guests.… read more...
When I ask couples where to take engagement pictures, they always let me recommend some excellent locations for intimate and casual portraits.
It is not easy to choose the best places for engagement shoots. It depends on many factors: for instance, where you met, or a special place in your heart or the colour you want to give to the shoot. First, I try to interpret the personality of the subjects: finding the mood athat suits your needs is essential.
I’m still talking about real couples, people who almost certainly never have posed in front of a camera. You might be embarrassed or under pressure. However, at the same time, you dream beautiful photos. I understand your concerns!
Now I have realised that the best locations for engagement sessions are in the wilderness and unspoilt nature. A gorgeous forest, the paved roads of the hills, big trees, the light passing through the green leaves, a daydream!… read more...
Although we often work in the beautiful areas of the Val di Merse, among the hills of Val d’Elsa immersed in the Siena Crete, it is the very first time we shoot an engagement session in the historic city of Siena.
A beautiful experience that will undoubtedly not be the only one. Siena, a heritage of UNESCO since 1995, is a beautiful town which contains in itself all the elements typical of Tuscany, the warm colours of this land and the wealth of all its artistic value.
The couple, smiling more than ever a few weeks before the wedding, chose the city where they fell in love as the background to their engagement session.
I strolled with them through the romantic streets of the centre and used the most important monuments of the city as background: the stunning Duomo, the famous Piazza del Campo and much more. Siena was perfect for this kind of photos, in a couple of hours, you can find many different places where you can take photographs, from the most hidden spots, typical of Tuscany, to the broader views known now all over the world.… read more...
The only type of communication we had before their wedding with Claire and Brady, a lovely Canadian couple, was via emails. That’s why we had no idea about their characters or whatever we usually find out during the engagement sessions before the marriage.
When we arrive to Villa di Montecastelli, an ancient renovated fortress overlooked Francigena street, the mystery was finally unrevealed.
The young couple welcomed us with warmth and kindness: after a few hours we felt like being at home and it didn’t look like we were working.
Claire and Brady celebrated their wedding in the beautiful garden of the Villa, where we realized the photo shoot below.
Villa Montecastelli offers a really spectacular setting to those who love Tuscany: besides the ancient walls you lose sight of the mold curves of Siena hills which inebriate all your senses.
Talking about senses, do we want to talk about taste? The owner of the Villa, Jens Schmidt, is also an exceptional chef.… read more...
I don’t need even one great reason to shoot a San Galgano Wedding. Memories always make me come back here. As the wine during ageing, they become sweeter and more meaningful. Ciaran and Joanna, from Canada, gave me the reason to return: their wonderful wedding in Tuscany.
The Abbey of San Galgano is one of the most fascinating places in Tuscany. This ancient Cistercian abbey of 1300 is located in the countryside of Siena. Its unique feature is also its biggest flaw: the abbey has no roof, it collapsed centuries ago during a storm. This characteristic leaves speechless thousands of tourists coming all the way from Siena and Florence to see it. The area where the abbey is located is wild. The roads wind through miles of fields, hills, and trails. Silence is the king of these valleys. The wind passing through the ruins is the only sound within the walls of the abbey.… read more...
Nestled into the Crete Senesi, the Agriturismo Podere Bellaria is a charming place where to spend a few relaxing days in Tuscany. It is located halfway between Siena and Arezzo, in a pristine and almost deserted area. In addition to a large beautiful garden, the property also offers a swimming pool and various accommodations for its guests. Not surprisingly, today’s couple has chosen to celebrate their intimate marriage here.
The bride and groom got dressed in one of the villas of the farmhouse. She wore her beautiful bohemian style dress, a floral wreath on her head and a lush, colourful bouquet, before walking down the aisle and getting next to her husband in the garden, where the ceremony took place. The spouses have exchanged vows and rings under the sun of Tuscany, surrounded by their friends and families.
Just a few moments to cool off, and it was already time for the wedding photos.… read more...
Siena is certainly one of the most magical cities of Tuscany.
That holds in itself everything that a couple may be searching for their wedding photo book. Yes, because Siena can be both ancient and modern even in a small place, offering unique photographic glimpses, untraceable in any other place, that also make unique the newlyweds photo shoot.
Siena is art, history and breathtaking views. The ancient city, home of the famous Palio, offers a stay plunged in the Italian culture, all the surroundings are a wonderful rustic setting to relax.
You can stroll through the streets of center, visit the beautiful Duomo and get ice cream in the Piazza del Campo. You can visit the beautiful hills that surround this pearl of Tuscany, traveling on a vintage 500 for the Val di Merse and Val d’Orcia. You can stop and drink a good Chianti and enjoy the beauty that nature and history have given to Siena.… read more...
It’s been only four years since he first met her.
He met her in Florence, in a photography atelier where he had been working for a few years. She, a university student of photography about to graduate; he, an advertising photographer with a real passion for weddings. Since that February 2009 more than 1500 days have passed; they’ve spent together many lovely days, worked a lot and travelled little.
So, after a holiday to the Canary Islands, they decided that it was the right time to be on the other side; putting the cameras aside, they wore the wedding dresses and, after a few months of tiring preparation, they got married at the end of May surrounded by friends and relatives. The civil ceremony took place at the Abbey of San Galgano, near Siena.

What kind of link is possible among a little town in Calabria, a canadian city and the beautiful Montepulciano in Tuscany?
Maybe more than one, but the one we’re going to reveal is surely the most romantic: Francesca and Parker’s wedding.
Francesca is a gorgeous girl with typical mediterranean beauty: tall, dark haired and an enchanting smile. Her family, in fact, has its origin in Calabria, even if she’s grown up in Canada, where her parents moved years ago. There Francesca met Parker, a young canadian guy who, for handsomeness and posture, looks like an actor of the twenties.
The ceremony was last October in the magnificent church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Montepulciano.
Why did they choose Montepulciano for their wedding? The couple immediately explained to us their love for Italy in general (being a contributing factor Francesca’s family origins) and, mostly , for the green landscapes of Tuscany.… read more...
