Regarding the wedding ceremony, not always the place of our dreams is the one we actually have at our disposal. There are those who’d like to walk down the beach at sunset in their white dress, others would love to exchange their eternal promises on the tower of a castle. Be guided by an expert wedding photographer to discover the best venues for humanist wedding in Italy.
Anyway, where the civil or religious rite cannot take place, you can always get the magic of a symbolic wedding Italy. This kind of celebration is exactly like the others but it can be held everywhere, even in the most particular places, which are not assigned with consecration. You just need a couple and, possibly, a celebrant. The celebrant is the figure who, following your needs and suggestions, will make a magic and unforgettable ceremony for you wherever you want to.Read more!
Useless to say that when the scenery is unique and once-off, your wedding photos will also be so. Imagine the atmosphere of a wood, a castle, a hot-air balloon, why not! If you really want to find a contradiction in the symbolic rite, it’s that this type of rite has no legal value: you’ll have to provide for a religious or civil rite in another moment.
Oh Tuscany, Tuscany! Among the many destinations in Europe, you are without a doubt the most attractive. I’ll never get tired of picturing you, as couples never cease to get moved while exchanging vows in front of your impressive views! It’s time for another wedding in Tuscany. The protagonists are two French guys looking for a rustic wedding al fresco, where you can breathe all the magical atmosphere of this region. The bride and the groom got ready at Podere Le Meraviglie, a nice farmhouse on the outskirts of Poggibonsi, immersed in the countryside of Siena. After a short civil ceremony in Certaldo in the morning, the couple exchanged wedding rings and vows in the garden of the farmhouse, surrounded by the families and a few close friends. Together, the newlyweds sealed a bottle of wine and two secret letters inside a box, that they will open when their love […]
Of all the wedding venues in Florence, the Castello di Vincigliata is undoubtedly the most scenic. Perched on a hill near Fiesole, the castle offers newlyweds and guests a breathtaking view, areas set up for every part of the ceremony and the wedding reception, an atmosphere that is not easily forgotten. Today’s couple has organised the wedding right here. The spouses got ready in Villa Fiesole, an elegant hotel at a short distance from the castle. The ceremony took place inside the cloister. The bride and groom exchanged vows and wedding rings under an arch of flowers, in front of their excited guests. I took the traditional photographs with families and couple portraits inside the castle property. Although the scenery in the surrounding area is lovely, the venue offers many beautiful spots, perfect for wedding photos. The groom had also hired a Fiat Cinquecento, thanks to which I could take some […]
Conti di San Bonifacio is undoubtedly one of the most attractive wedding venues of Tuscany. You never stop wondering! When I thought I had seen the nicest places there, here comes the chance to work in this incredible estate in the Maremma. This Conti di San Bonifacio Wedding is worth to be told! But first things first. Conti di San Bonifacio is a wine resort located in Gavorrano, in the province of Grosseto. The area is the wildest and unspoilt of Tuscany: the paradise of every photographer. Fields in bloom and orderly vineyards accompany me along the journey on deserted roads. A gate out of nowhere welcomes me; the road begins to climb and, at last, I am in front of the impressive facade of the structure. A large arched wooden door is before my eyes. Above it, the skeleton of the head of a buffalo. I am suddenly aware […]
Today we talk about a trend that is spreading very quickly: the elopement. What is it? The elopement is nothing more than a romantic runaway, during which the wedding between two lovers is celebrated. Tradition has that everything is organized in secret; even the parents should be unaware of intentions of the spouses. Although the elopement has lost much of the original meaning in recent years, more and more couples choose to get married in this way. April and Andy chose Florence for their wedding. Put yourself in the shoes of these two Americans who organize the wedding in Italy … is there a better destination than Florence as a background for photos? April and Andy chose the Torre di Bellosguardo, an exclusive resort on a hill, for ceremony and festivities. Those who have visited Florence knows that capital of Tuscany is surrounded by many hills from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama so that, on the […]
Cortina d’Ampezzo is one of the best known and sought after locations in Italy. Most Italian celebrities gather here during Christmas holidays, to enjoy the first snow in the shadow of the Alps. Many of them choose the Hotel Cristallo, a famous five-star resort, to spend some days in this enchanting mountain location. This is where, together with a fabulous staff, I realised this styled wedding shoot. But let’s take a step back. Cortina d’Ampezzo is located in the Dolomites, a charming and picturesque mountain range in northern Italy. Rich in snow and ski facilities in the winter, it was the location of the 1960 winter Olympics. Since then, it is still the undisputed queen of the Italian Alps. The old village is full of boutiques and exclusive restaurants. Hotel Cristallo is its flagship. It guarantees a unique ambience and a dreamlike atmosphere. There could be no better venue for […]
Villa di Lilliano is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve visited this year. It is an ancient Medici villa, lost in the Florentine countryside, among wild fields and olive groves. It is precisely here that the couple of the day celebrated their wedding. They got ready at the Hotel St. Regis, in the historic centre of Florence. The groom joked around until the last minute with his groomsmen, before putting on his beautiful black suit; the bride was aided by her sister and mother to wear the dress and the bridal veil. They gathered in the garden of the Villa di Lilliano, where the groom gazed excited at her as she walked down the lawn towards him. They exchanged vows and rings just before sunset on a warm summer day. Later on, the spouses and families have toasted to their union with the local limoncello, always in the garden. […]
Going back to the Chianti area in September is always wonderful. The colours are the classic ones of Tuscan autumn; the vines begin to turn yellow; the leaves on the trees turn red, and the light is the warmest of the entire summer. Also, sunsets in this period are fabulous! I had the chance to enjoy all of this thanks to a Parisian couple, and their elegant wedding at Villa Il Poggiale. Villa Il Poggiale is located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, close to Florence, nestled in the hills of the Florentine Chianti area. It is an ancient historic mansion, which houses a luxury hotel. Few rooms with all amenities make this villa one of the most exclusive residences in Tuscany. In addition to the fantastic pool, Villa Il Poggiale has a lovely terrace garden, where, during the fresh summer evenings, you can spend some time relaxing watching the […]
Choosing the best venue for your destination wedding in Florence takes time and patience. It’s not as easy as it might seem, especially for those who plan the wedding from abroad. There are so many beautiful locations that can be taken into account for the big day in Italy. Tuscany and Florence are full of charming historical villas with gardens, grand entrances and magnificent views of the surrounding landscape. A good wedding planner might guide you to the best choice for you and your guests. But if your dream is a romantic elopement in Italy, things get more complicated. Not having to handle a large number of guests, any place can be a match for an unforgettable ceremony. Many villas and hotels for destination weddings in Florence offer terraces with views of the city and the Arno river. None of these venues, however, can provide the quality of a Four Seasons Wedding […]
Umbria, a Thursday in September. I check out the reminder note I printed in the morning: ok, the address’s right. In front of me stands out the impressive Borgia Castle, a majestic building of medieval age. I’m here for a wedding that’s a bit different from the usual ones, first of all for the venue. I am in Passignano sul Trasimeno. Bye bye Tuscany, today I stray. The wedding will be celebrated tomorrow, but I preferred to move in advance, so I have the time to see the place and look for the best spots for photographs. I don’t know much about Nick and Courtney, but the little I know excite me: I going to shoot the wedding of a young Canadian couple who work as….models. Oh yes! Friday’s morning, the sun is a little shy, it’s hidden behind the clouds and mostly behind the towers of the castle, whose […]
Returning to photograph a wedding at the Antica Fattoria di Paterno, is always a lovely thing! It’s like meeting dear friends after a long time. There is always pleasant news! Since my last visit, the garden and some areas have been partially renovated. The villa, already impressive before these interventions, is now even more functional and enchanting. Villa Paterno is, without a doubt, the most beautiful villa for marriages in Tuscany. The couple of the day has different origins. Although they both live in the United States, the groom’s family is Irish while the bride’s is from the Czech Republic. Their guests arrived in Tuscany from all over the world, taking a few extra days for a vacation in Italy. The ceremony was held in the garden. Unfortunately, a few drops of rain made the wedding planner to move the setting inside at the last minute. But the newlyweds and their […]
Villa Vignamaggio is one of those places where you could spend an entire lifetime. It is a just renovated old Tuscan-style village near Panzano in Chianti, in one the most picturesque parts of Italy. The property offers rooms for its guests, who spend a few days relaxing in the countryside, making excursions and visiting the most famous wineries in the area. Villa Vignamaggio is also the perfect wedding venue for any photo shoot. The central house, with its pink walls in contrast with the intense green of the vegetation, is ideal for portraits. All around, vineyards, hills and silence: the ultimate dream for every wedding photographer. This lovely Canadian couple decided to celebrate their wedding here. An intimate celebration, which was attended by the photographer, the celebrant and four talented musicians. The ceremony took place in the garden, where the bride and groom promised each other eternal love exchanging wedding […]
It is always a pleasure to return to Villa Pitiana to shoot a wedding. This wedding venue is one of the most suggestive in the countryside of Florence. Villa Pitiana is located in Donnini, on the hills surrounding Florence, very close to Reggello. It is a large manor house, built in 1200 that can accommodate large and intimate weddings. Villa Pitiana, besides numerous rooms for the newlyweds and guests of the event, also has big gardens and panoramic terraces outdoor, and ancient halls indoor. Each step of the marriage is customizable, thanks to an excellent wedding planner that the Villa offers to the couples. Also, Villa Pitiana might be the perfect place for a marvellous honeymoon. Christie and William fell in love with the villa at first sight and decided to organise their destination wedding here in Tuscany. Villa Pitiana has been the meeting place for friends and families, coming from […]
Borgo Santo Pietro, the location of today’s wedding, is located in southern Tuscany, the one with round hills and endless fields of sunflowers to admire while strolling along the long roads that run through the countryside. A stone’s throw from the famous Abbey of San Galgano, there’s this fantastic luxury resort that Jenny and Michael have chosen as the venue for their wedding. The resort consists of a large old villa, which houses the restaurant and the reception, around which the property spreads throughout. Many smaller villas, available for guests, are along roads lined with cypress trees that lead to the large central villa. Thanks to the pool, the gardens, and the services offered, it is the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the quiet of the area. But that’s not all! Borgo Santo Pietro is ideal for a special elopement. Set off from hot Los Angeles for a travelling […]
Among the many venues for the wedding in Florence, Castello di Vincigliata is the most fascinating and attractive. The castle is immersed in a wood of large trees, just a few steps from the centre of Fiesole and a few minutes from Florence. Accessible by a narrow, winding road rising along the hill, the Florentine castle offers a unique and breathtaking view, one of the most impressive of the entire Chianti. The Castello di Vincigliata provides several areas for organising ceremonies and receptions. The most attractive is the panoramic terrace where this cute Canadian couple has exchanged promises and rings, surrounded by excited families and friends. But let’s take a step back. The bride and groom got ready at Villa Fiesole, a few minute drive from the castle, along with bridesmaids and groomsmen. Upon arrived at the venue with a limo, the nervous groom watched the bride walk with her […]
See you in Tuscany! Is there anything more beautiful to say to friends and families scattered around the world? He European, she Asian, living and working in London. During a holiday in Italy, they fell in love with the town of Lucca and its villas. In particular, Villa Grabau, which quickly became the venue of their wedding. The villa is located in the countryside near Lucca, surrounded by green vegetation. Reachable in a few minute drive from the centre of the Tuscan city, it is one of the most appreciated locations, thanks to the fabulous gardens and the limonaia, the winter garden. The bride got ready in one of the houses of the property, surrounded by her closest friends. She chose to meet the groom in private, along the path leading to the altar, to spend some time with him before the ceremony. The symbolic service took place in the […]
Among the many venues for intimate weddings, one of the nicest that I have visited in recent times is the Capannelle Winery. This tiny boutique hotel is located in Gaiole in Chianti, in a fantastic location from which you can enjoy the view of the surrounding hills and the old village. The region is one of the most famous in Tuscany. The Chianti area is undoubtedly renowned worldwide for its excellent wines and its slow food. Millions of tourists flock to this place to spend a few days of quietness, enchanted by the legendary sceneries and the relaxed lifestyle. Capannelle Winery is a luxury resort, with few rooms but large and equipped with every comfort. The property offers a stunning infinity pool and tastings of local wines, including the ones of the resort. The garden is fabulous, with a large central gazebo covered by wisteria vines that give their best […]
I met these two young Canadians for the first time on the occasion of the wedding proposal in the Cinque Terre. I helped Barry during the planning, and I was there when he asked Jessica to marry him. A wonderful day that I still remember with emotion. So when I was invited to photograph their wedding in the Caribbean, I did not think twice, and I just said yes. Exactly as I don’t refuse an invitation to dinner with our loved ones, for no reason at all I would have missed Barry and Jessica’s marriage. The location of the wedding is the Now Larimar in Punta Cana. The resort, which overlooks the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, is located in the Dominican Republic, and is surrounded by palm trees, white sand and lush gardens. A real feast for the eyes! As soon as I arrived, I immediately realised that […]
Enjoy this stunning La Badia Orvieto Wedding. Meet this beautiful couple from LA, California. Francesca’s gorgeous blonde hair, brown eyes, and unforgettable smile made her a pleasure to photograph. Together they make an unforgettably graceful and elegant pair. Francesca’s dad emigrated from Italy to the States when he was 17, and although she still has her original Italian surname and italian citizenship, she doesn’t speak much of the language. Francesca and Tim felt that the only way to feel like he was at the wedding was to get married in his country. This couple is 100% American, but that didn’t stop them from having their special day in the incredible landscapes of Umbria, Italy. Many couples from all around the world choose Italy as the place to tie the knot, and it’s no surprise why. Italy is one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations on the globe. But Umbria, which is […]
Villa Le Piazzole is located in Galluzzo, a small and lovely village on the outskirts of Florence, on the ancient road that leads to Siena through the Chianti hills. Villa Le Piazzole is one of the most attractive wedding venues in Florence. An Italian garden surrounds the main mansion. Inside the property, there are also a pool with a view, vineyards, dirt roads throughout the wild nature and even a small church, perfect for small intimate blessings. Villa Le Piazzole gives its best in the spring. The flowering roses climb on the ancient walls, and the warm and enveloping light gives the garden grace and colour. Even Florence and its Duomo, two steps away, seem to shine again after the long winter. Despite the rain, this American couple decided to celebrate their wedding at Villa Le Piazzole. They both got ready in a hotel in the centre of Florence. After having her […]
If you think of Tuscany, you cannot help but consider Florence, the hills and scenery. You cannot help but see in your mind rows of cypresses and olive trees, along unpaved country roads and farmhouses in the wild vegetation. Except for some industrial areas, the entire Tuscany is so. But few people know the countryside of Lucca, which has nothing to envy to the most famous areas of the Chianti. Lucca is located exactly halfway between Florence and the ocean. It is a small town that has maintained its charm untouched. The streets of the historic centre leave millions of tourists jaw-dropping every year. You can walk and cycle through the imposing walls, and there is nothing better than a stroll in spring to breathe all its so Dolce Far Niente mood. After the first visit, dozens of couples decide to come back here and organise their wedding downtown. The […]
