There are many great wedding locations in and around Lucca, including Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, and Piestrasanta. And inside these lovely areas, you can find 99 churches, more than 100 villas, many beautiful parks and resorts, and fantastic beaches. There is a wedding photograph location to match the bride and groom’s personality and type of marriage. If you will be exchanging your vows in the warmer months, especially summer, than you must have your wedding in Lucca or Versilia.

Lucca is rich in history, with settlements going back as far as the Etruscan civilization, which was around 700 BC. Much if the historical charm can still be seen throughout Lucca. A trip to Lucca must include a visit to the Piazza Anfiteatro and the Basilica di San Frediano. There are still ancient ruins visible in the Piazza. Just the view of the old walls enclosing the city and protecting it from intruders is enough to want to put your arm around your lover as you explore all the wonderful things the city has to offer.

If you are a music enthusiast, you might enjoy knowing that in 1858, the musical genus Giacomo Puccini was born here. He would play in the winding streets of Lucca and practice the skills that allow him to go on and create the famous Italian operas, Madame Butterfly, La Boheme, and Tosca. You can tour his home, which is now a museum. This museum plays tribute to Giacomo with portraits, costumes, and even the piano where he created his masterpieces. What a delightful place to take some wedding photographs when the couple shares a love and appreciation of fine Italian opera.

Another wonderfully romantic place to take wedding photographs would be the marble tiered Cathedral of San Martino. The design of this splendidly robust Pisan-Romaneque makes for one of the most romantic picture spots in the area. Marble backgrounds make delightful photographs as many people often connect old-world style with love. Perhaps it’s because both can be timeless? If flowers are more your taste, consider taking wedding photographs in the Orto Botanico Comunale di Lucca, which is a botanical garden. Opened in 1820, this triangular garden has two sections, one with gardens, an arboretum, and even a pond. The other has a greenhouse, laboratories, and a botanical school. One thing is certain and that is the beauty of Lucca is one that dreams are made of. This is where your dreams of a romantic wedding can come true.

Alice and Riccardo, the wedding among the clouds

Alice and Riccardo, the wedding among the clouds

THE PICTURES OF THE WEDDING WE COULDN’T WAIT TO SEE We met the last time for the engagement session on a day at the end of April. We meet them again for their wedding. Alice and Riccardo, from a meteorological point of view, are not really lucky. They got married in a church in Castellare di Pescia, whereas the reception was at the Giardino Garzoni in Collodi (Lucca), a wonderful seventeenth-century garden on the side of the Parco di Pinocchio (yes, Pinocchio Park). The dinner was supposed to be “under the stars”, but the rain, which came pouring down from the morning, made them set up a big tent to shelter the guests from the terrible weather. Fortunately, during the evening, as if reward for their efforts and their prayers, the sun came out. And even if it wasn’t that warm and in the horizon there were lots of black [...]

ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS IN MASSACIUCCOLI Here we are again, after a while away from our blog. These days we are in peak season, among wedding pictures to deliver, weddings to shoot and weddings to plan. But we would love to introduce you to this beautiful couple from the Naples area, Silvia and Angelo. Even if it’s been years since they lived in Tuscany, as with every Neapolitan, they haven’t lost their typical Neapolitan accent. Both Lara and I listened to their beautiful story during this engagement session at the lake of Massaciuccoli, close to Torre del Lago, in the province of Lucca. We took just a few hours and were already in tune with these wonderful couple; Silvia is an architect, she’s a quiet person, but with smart and honest eyes; Angelo instead is the typical Neapolitan “Uaglione” (I would translate this as “mate”), funny, a natural born comedian, sunny and [...]

From Texas to Vellano. Charity and Matt, the story of a global wedding!

SHE FILIPINO, HE AMERICAN, BRIDE AND GROOM IN VELLANO Tuscany will never be forgotten, especially seen with the eyes of foreigners who celebrate their wedding: Tuscany remains always in the memory, with its sunny hills, its perfumes, its cities of art. However, what Charity and Matt lived was a Tuscany that was a little bit more unusual… These guys got married in Vellano, a small, out-of-the-way town in the Svizzera Pesciatina in the province of Pistoia, on a pouring day in March. She was born in the USA, but her background is Filipino; he’s a real Texan with his cowboy boots and spurs. The surrounding – the majestic landscape of the Val di Torbola and the Val di Forfora. The wedding, despite the rain, was amazing. As one of our Italian saying goes: “pochi ma buoni” (literally: “few but good”; meaning “it’s not the quantity but the quality that counts”. [...]

Wet wedding, lucky wedding… inspired photographer! A wedding you will never forget!

THE WEDDING OF DANIELA AND LUCA See the slideshow of these wedding pictures The first wedding of the year is the trickiest. After a whole winter passed post-producing and tiding all the pictures of the last summer, a good professional who loves his work can’t do anything but hope that the season will start again as soon as possible; I’m not really happy to stay sitting on the desk all day and I look forward to getting moving. So, the first wedding of the year is always welcome. But the first wedding is always the first wedding! All the study done during the winter must give us good results and all the good purposes for the new season must get started with the right foot. And then there is always that little nagging fear of forgetting something. Long story short: me and Lara fighting for a week before the date, [...]

Have your Wedding in Lucca

Have your Wedding in Lucca

Here is Why You Should Have Your Wedding in Lucca When spring comes and the opportunity for a trip out of town arises, Lucca and Versilia is the place to go without a doubt, particularly in the bathing season. Choosing the venue of your wedding is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. You want everything to come perfectly together, the church, restaurant, and even your makeup. Therefore, you should put some thought into where you are going to exchange your vows and host the celebration afterwards. On a recent trip to Lucca, I found a few places that would be perfect for a beautiful wedding. Lucca This is one of the most underrated cities in central Italy. When people think of Tuscany, they think of Florence, Pistoia, or Siena. Even though it is the provincial capital and has wide appeal to tourists and art lovers, Lucca is a quiet place [...]
