Fairytale Castle Wedding in Florence

9 February 2018

Planning a wedding in Italy is a dream for every lover. Many of them have spent a period or a holiday in Tuscany or Liguria, and therefore they’ll forever keep Italy in their hearts. Others might have made their marriage proposal in Florence or Venice, and so Italy has an extraordinary meaning for them. The beauty and the relaxed lifestyle have merely enchanted others so that they want to enjoy at most all the pleasures of life.

These lovebirds organised their destination wedding in Italy for all these reasons. From the distant Philippines, they chose Florence and the Castello di Vincigliata as the location of the event. But let’s take a step back. The bride and the groom got ready in an Airbnb in Florence, together with bridesmaids and groomsmen. The ceremony took place in the church of San Filippo Neri, behind Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza Della Signoria, in the historic centre of the Tuscan city. A romantic rite, enriched by solemn vows in one of the most impressive churches of the whole town.

After a few couple portraits through the streets of the centre and the most relevant highlights, I led the bride and groom to the Castello di Vincigliata, the venue of their wedding reception. The Italian aperitif took place on the grand terrace, where the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés under the warm September sun. I took advantage of the pleasant light of the sunset to create fabulous portraits of the couple. From the panoramic window to the cloister, every spot of the castle is a daydream for a wedding photographer.

As I took the last pictures of the newlyweds, the guests moved to the courtyard, where a fairytale setting awaited them. A U-shaped table, enriched with fresh flowers and candles, was the stage for a wedding dinner to remember. The walls, coloured by neon lights, gave an elegant and refined touch to the whole meal, sandwiched, between one speech and another, by a tenor who sang the most famous arias of Italian operas. The cut of the cake was also done in the courtyard before spouses and families began the dancing on the terrace, where I greeted them still thrilled for the beautiful day spent. Here are some photos.
