Enjoy this stunning La Badia Orvieto Wedding. Meet this beautiful couple from LA, California. Francesca’s gorgeous blonde hair, brown eyes, and unforgettable smile made her a pleasure to photograph. Together they make an unforgettably graceful and elegant pair.
Francesca’s dad emigrated from Italy to the States when he was 17, and although she still has her original Italian surname and italian citizenship, she doesn’t speak much of the language. Francesca and Tim felt that the only way to feel like he was at the wedding was to get married in his country.
This couple is 100% American, but that didn’t stop them from having their special day in the incredible landscapes of Umbria, Italy.
Many couples from all around the world choose Italy as the place to tie the knot, and it’s no surprise why. Italy is one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations on the globe.
But Umbria, which is very similar to Tuscany, is a relatively new destination for foreign weddings. However, its peaceful countryside, rich history, and unique culture mean that it is becoming more and more popular.
Tim and Francesca chose the spectacular setting of the 12th Century Benedictine abbey of La Badia for their wedding day. Surrounded by lush green, rolling hills, romantic ruins, and a luxury hotel, it was the perfect place for friends and family to gather and watch the couple pledge their love for each other.
This incredible destination set atop a hill with 360 degree views, is only a few steps away from the city of Orvieto in the region of Umbria. The area is famous for its vineyards, art, history, and culture as well as its famous blue and white striped Dome which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city.
You could hardly choose a more romantic place to get married. In the day the views will blow you away. The sun, vineyards, and music will give you the feeling that only a day in the Italian countryside can. As the sun goes down the twinkling city lights come on at the same time as the fireflies begin to play. In front of the thrilled guests Tim and Francesca exchanged their vows underneath the high-vaulted stone ceilings of this wonderful building.
The facades are decorated with ancient gothic arches and wrought-iron fixtures. The heavy wooden beams and copper finishes lend an olde-worlde feel to the space. Outside the sun-drenched olive trees, gardens, and pool played host to the intimate after party.
A fine candle lit dinner took place in the fabulous courtyard just as the sun was setting. Purple and white flowers lined the table, which was perfectly set by Barbara of Fatamadrina, and gave the meal that classy edge. With music from Roxy Rose the atmosphere was just what the day needed. It was the most beautiful end to one of the most memorable weddings that we have had the pleasure to photograph.
