Chianti Wedding at Villa Il Poggiale

21 April 2016

Going back to the Chianti area in September is always wonderful. The colours are the classic ones of Tuscan autumn; the vines begin to turn yellow; the leaves on the trees turn red, and the light is the warmest of the entire summer. Also, sunsets in this period are fabulous! I had the chance to enjoy all of this thanks to a Parisian couple, and their elegant wedding at Villa Il Poggiale.

Villa Il Poggiale is located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, close to Florence, nestled in the hills of the Florentine Chianti area. It is an ancient historic mansion, which houses a luxury hotel. Few rooms with all amenities make this villa one of the most exclusive residences in Tuscany. In addition to the fantastic pool, Villa Il Poggiale has a lovely terrace garden, where, during the fresh summer evenings, you can spend some time relaxing watching the sunset and enjoying the sounds and the smells of the countryside.

The bride and the groom, like all the French people, have excellent taste. They fell in love with the villa after a few glances. They were looking for an organic and authentic wedding, surrounded by friends and family from all over the world. What better location than the Chianti area to celebrate this union?

The Jewish ceremony was held in the garden beside the pool. It was exciting! The celebrant, Giuseppe Rossi, and the rabbi joined in marriage this adorable couple, among the cheers of the many happy guests present.

Afterwards, while the guests were enjoying a rich aperitif with canapés and local specialities, I shot them in the magnificent setting of Tuscany. The photo shoot took place in the garden and the surrounding fields. I pictured them during a walk, under the warm light of a Tuscan sunset. It did not take long to shoot lovely pictures. The bride and the groom were gorgeous, euphoric after being joined in marriage, and were eager to celebrate with their guests.

The dinner tables were set up right in front of the main facade. The table setting was adorned with overflowing pots of mimosa and many candles, which were also the main lighting during the meal. Just after dusk, spouses and guests were accommodated and appreciated the renowned local cuisine. The service, as usual, was flawless, thanks to the villa staff.

I hope to meet this lovely French couple again. They and their families were adorable throughout the day of the wedding. A huge thank also to Monica and the fabulous staff at Villa Il Poggiale. I hope to return soon for another beautiful Chianti Wedding.
