Vignamaggio is one of those places where I’m always happy to go. As a wedding photographer in Tuscany, I see dozens of fabulous venues every year, but I have taken fantastic events there, and it has always had a special place in my heart.
Vignamaggio is perched on a hilltop near Greve and Panzano in Chianti, surrounded by hectares of Tuscan countryside and lush vineyards, where excellent local Chianti wine is produced. It is an antique villa renovated with modern furniture. It provides numerous rooms and suites where spouses and guests can stay and a fabulous infinity pool where you can laze and drink cocktails in the days before and after the wedding.
As for the events, at Vignamaggio you’ll find dozens of beautiful places to organise fabulous ceremonies and receptions with a view of the Chianti hills. Not surprisingly, Vignamaggio is one of the most popular locations, both for elopements and celebrations with hundreds of guests – in this case, better to hire a wedding planner.
These lovebirds decided to celebrate their intimate Chianti wedding here. The bride got ready together with her sister and her mother in one of the suites of the villa. The ceremony took place by the large arches in the garden, where the bride and groom exchanged vows and rings among their family members. After a few family photos, I portrayed the bride and groom during a stroll in the garden and the most beautiful olive groves of the surroundings. There couldn’t be a more romantic setting to shoot Tuscan wedding photographs! Villa Vignamaggio is terrific and provides dozens of breathtaking spots. The surrounding countryside is perfect for epic pictures, with endless slopes and hills dotted with centuries-old cypresses. I could spend hours shooting here, and perhaps the most challenging part is the choice of the best spots.
I greeted the bride and groom before dinner. Being an intimate wedding, my work wasn’t needed during the reception, and maybe it’s better that way! No photographer means no compromising photos! 😂 Seriously, it was a pleasure to document this intimate Vignamaggio wedding, and I can’t wait to return soon to the Chianti hills to photograph another beautiful event!
