When planning a wedding in Tuscany, choosing a place, even before the venue, is one of the most challenging things. Tuscany can pride itself with many beautiful areas where you can have weddings and celebrations, but also spend fabulous honeymoons or have your family portrayed during holidays. From Carrara with its marble mountains to the Val d’Orcia with its rounded hills, from north to south is a series of legendary sceneries, dotted with cypress trees and vineyards. One of the most famous areas, located between Florence and Siena, is Chianti. Here, in addition to breathtaking sceneries, you will find numerous villas and castles, perfect for organising any celebration. Castello di Vicchiomaggio is one of the most known and appreciated venues. It’s located in a picturesque spot near Greve in Chianti, surrounded by lush vineyards where an excellent local wine is also produced.
The castle is a several-hundred-year-old hilltop retreat that is now a majestic wine estate. The setting is sumptuous with views across the hills and vineyards, and the facility is singularly modern for a building that is so old. During the day, you can hear the pleasing cacophony of crickets and chill by the infinity pool overlooking the countryside. There are excellent wine tours available as well.
These lovebirds chose Castello di Vicchiomaggio for their intimate wedding in Tuscany. The bride got ready with her maid of honour and her beautiful baby girl in the suite. The groom watched her getting to the ceremony arm in arm with her father, and shortly afterwards they pronounced vows and exchanged rings among the glances of the few family members present. The cocktail hour took place in the garden, and immediately later I portrayed the newlyweds in the surrounding vineyards, taking home unforgettable shots. It was beautiful to watch the newlyweds walk and exchange happy glances among the cypress trees and the legendary landscape of Tuscany. The dinner took place on the terrace with a view, where the bride also gave her speech. Thanks to the wonderful setting and the fantastic food, the atmosphere was terrific, and it has been hard to get the guests up for the first dance and the cake. But in the end, the excellent wedding planners Sarah and Raffaella did it!
What a day! It will be difficult for everyone to forget this lovely wedding. And almost a year later, I now discover that this lovely family will return to the castle for a few days. Please see below some photos!
