What could be more romantic than your treasured Venice pre wedding photo shoot being taken amongst a backdrop of Venice’s famous canals and bridges? Why not tell the story of a couple from Singapore, who chose, out of all of the beautiful destinations in Europe and the rest of the world, the Italian lagoon, Venice, for their pre-wedding photo shoot? Maybe it is because Venice is unique? Or maybe it is because Venice offers incredible scenery for wedding photos?
When couples ask me to take their wedding photographs in Venice, I always feel euphoric. Amongst many photographers in the world, thankfully I have had the chance to work in a range of fairy-tale venues. Just think about Tuscany, which is usually my battlefield. However, sometimes customers call me with a request to take their photographs in Venice. Between the engagement sessions, marriage proposals and even family portraits, during the last few years I have had more and more requests for pre-wedding sessions in the most beautiful location in Italy.
Imagine for a moment being born, and growing up in a city like Singapore; it is beautiful and charming, but it cannot compete with the ancient history of Italy. In the Republic of Singapore, you will not find the captivating and stunning Rialto Bridge or the domes of San Marco square. I am not saying that Italy is better, as when I am in Italy, I dream for the efficient infrastructures of Singapore! However, if you are lucky enough to live in Singapore, you might look forward to making a trip to immerse yourself in the antiquity and history of Italy.
This kind of photo shoot, as I explained previous, is particularly requested by Asian couples who want to be my models, in the streets of Italy, before their wedding day. They then receive photographs that will be printed and shown during the wedding day itself. The pre-wedding session looks like an engagement session, but the biggest difference is that the couple would wear their wedding dresses for the first but not for latter. Taking these kinds of photographs abroad, therefore, becomes an experience that you’ll never forget.
There are also many benefits, including:
- A romantic vacation – You’ll have a chance for a romantic break in Italy, and get some quality time together as a couple before the big day;
- Endless destinations – Italy offers wonderful art cities like Florence and Venice, or unspoiled natural scenery, such as Tuscany and Cinque Terre;
- Excellent facilities on site – Hotels and resorts are now present in every location;
On a beautiful day in August, I met a lovely couple of prospective spouses, Sharon and Lester, who will be getting married soon in Singapore. They wanted to have photos of their wedding in Italy. Amongst the many venues that I suggested to them, they preferred Venice due to its uniqueness and charm. Sharon is a very pretty and polite girl, with a beautiful and contagious smile. Silvia Gerzeli, who took care of the make-up and hairstyling, has enhanced her beauty. Lester, who is shy and reserved, looked at her while she walked through the streets and bridges of the lagoon.
The weather was perfect: it was sunny throughout the whole day, but it wasn’t particularly hot. We then took many relaxed and intimate photographs around the city, and even on a gondola, which will provide them with beautiful, romantic and timeless images to share with their friends and family. It only remains for me to wish them a beautiful wedding in the city of Singapore, and to meet them again soon – perhaps in Italy for their honeymoon!
