For Catholics, the wedding must take place within the community in which you live. In addition to being a party for the bride and groom, it is also a time when the whole community tightens next to the new couple and celebrates with it the birth of a new family. The inhabitants are witnesses of this, and the church is the place where this new union is blessed. It’s very rare to see a couple of Italians celebrate a symbolic ceremony on the beach. Less rare, but certainly not frequent, are civil weddings. The church was and is the place par excellence in Italy where weddings are celebrated since ancient times.
Alessandra and Andrea, as usual, have crowned their dream of love in the church of Montevettolini, a few minutes from where Alessandra was born and raised. The village is almost entirely built in stone, sits perched on a hill overlooking the valleys of vineyards and olive groves between Pistoia and Montecatini Terme, in Tuscany. For the reception and the party afterwards, they chose the seaside of Versilia, Forte Dei Marmi precisely.
We have seen Alessandra since the getting ready, while she got excited as the time approached to leave the house. Next to her, her parents, her brother Cristiano, and Sabina from Il Barone Rosso helped her to get dressed. The emotion plays tricks: they almost forgot the bride’s bouquet in the house!
The Mass took place in the small village church, decorated with fresh flowers for the occasion. At the exit, after the traditional confetti throwing, newlyweds and guests headed to the beach club for the reception. Although it was a June day, the air was fresh and black clouds were gathering on the horizon. Another afternoon of this strange summer of 2014, certainly one of the wettest on record for some years. Before reaching the reception, I took some couple portraits in the fields that descend towards the valley.
It was gratifying to photograph this gorgeous bride on a carpet of grass yellowed by the sun, with the branches of the olive trees that get lost in the background. But it was even more enjoyable to portray her and Andrea on the beaches of Forte Dei Marmi, in a surreal atmosphere, with the sea whitened by the black sky, in a calm and silence that presaged a storm. Alessandra was marvellous for the occasion. She wore a pretty dress by Blumarine, with a long skirt that fell to perfection giving her volume and grace. Andrea was watching her move sinuously along the fields and over the sand, smiling happily.
The guests have not felt their absence during the photo session! They enjoyed delicious canapes with fresh seafood on the beach right in front of the seashore. The venue chosen by the couple, after a long research, was the Twiga Beach Club in Forte Dei Marmi. It is one of the most known places of all the Tuscan coast, frequented by celebrities for the summer holidays. The dinner took place at the entrance of the beach resort, outdoor. The meal was delicious. The rain that fell at the end of the dinner forced guests and newlyweds to move within the building, where, among dancing and fun the long night continued.
