When planning my wedding, I visited dozens of venues, but none of them completely meets all my requirements. Looking for the right one was one of the most exhausting things I’ve ever done. I can barely imagine how hard must be searching it from abroad. There are so many beautiful places in Tuscany; finding the best fit is tough.
You must read every Trip Advisor or Facebook review, and browse hundreds of websites. Send emails, wait for a response, compare photos; of course, everything is very exciting, but also very time-consuming. A wedding planner can help you – here are the best – but I want to suggest you some of the most beautiful Tuscany venues.
My work as a wedding photographer takes me to new locations every day, and I know the pros and cons of all of them.
Here is the list of the top wedding venues of Tuscany.
Borgo Santo Pietro
It provides a renowned restaurant, a great pool with a view and many activities to fill up your days with fun!
The Lazy Olive
The Lazy Olive, also called Podere Finerri, is an ancient village of a few houses located near Asciano. It is undoubtedly the venue with the most beautiful view of the whole Tuscany! Only from here, you can enjoy 360 degrees of pure Tuscan scenery and breathtaking sunsets.
There are so many places here to organise the touching ceremonies. The reception might take place near the main villa; the owners offer an excellent home caterer with local food, and you can rent the whole village for you and your guests weekly. You can take advantage of the pool with a view for the cocktail hour and wedding photographs – as well as to relax during the rest of the holiday.
Casa Cornacchi is a charming farmhouse located between the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, lost in the Tuscan countryside. The property has numerous accommodations for couples and guests, who can book villas and rooms weekly and take advantage of the common areas and the fabulous swimming pool.
Conti di San Bonifacio
Conti di San Bonifacio is located in Maremma, one of the most impressive and less-known areas of Tuscany. The Maremma is all about nature. Here fields expanses are interrupted only by vineyards; man is only a part of this breathtaking territory.
Perched on a hill near Gavorrano stands Conti di San Bonifacio, a luxury boutique hotel that provides stylish rooms, a gorgeous swimming pool and a beautiful garden with a view for ceremony and wedding reception. The villa is in Tuscan-style, tastefully furnished by the owners.
Conti di San Bonifacio is especially suitable for intimate weddings with just a few guests. It’s also the perfect place to begin a fabulous honeymoon.
Borgo Stomennano is one of the most popular venues of Tuscany and always in high demand by couples from all over the world. Maybe it’s because of its timeless beauty, maybe for that being perfectly so old villa in nature.
More than anything, if you are considering getting married in Tuscany, whatever the number of guests, you cannot take any decision about the venue before having seen Borgo Stomennano. From wedding vendors’ point of view, Borgo Stomennano is the perfect place for catering, florists and wedding planners as you can get the maximum in one place.
For photographers, it’s ideal as there are plenty of spots for breathtaking wedding photographs: from the magnificent entrance that leads to the gate, to the vineyards, up to the terrace overlooking Monteriggioni. Not to be missed!
Terre di Nano
If you are looking for a laid-back venue to organise an authentic Tuscan wedding with a breathtaking view, Terre di Nano is the one for you. This little gem nestled in the hills of the Val d’Orcia rises a few kilometres from Montepulciano, a legendary town in the south of Tuscany, stage, among other things, of numerous films – Twilight is one of these.
Terre di Nano has a few but stylish rooms located in various villas. Here you can have the ceremony on the lawn of a terrace with a breathtaking view, surrounded by friends and families. Another gorgeous terrace is available for aperitifs and canapes, while the wedding banquets usually take place in an olive grove, brightened by suspended light chains, amazing immediately after sunset.
Terre di Nano is perfect for weddings of up to 70 people. The property also helps lovebirds in the planning, supplying their experience and recommending the best vendors in the area.
From photographer’s point of view, Terre di Nano is one of the most beautiful venues for wedding photos in Tuscany.
Borgo di Castelvecchio
Perched on the hills of the Val d’Orcia, just a few minutes drive from Pienza and San Quirico, is Borgo di Castelvecchio. This ancient village of a few houses, expertly renovated by the owners, provides unique futures for your wedding in Tuscany.
In addition to the chance of getting ready in an old-fashioned large villa, Borgo di Castelvecchio provides several areas to customise every stage of the marriage. The ceremony on the terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia is the most popular, followed by a dinner under the branches of the great oak.
Whatever the number of your guests, Borgo di Castelvecchio is always a great choice.
Villa of Ulignano
Tiny, delightful and with lots of features. This is the Villa di Ulignano, a gemstone placed among the hills of the Tuscan countryside. It’s located a few kilometres from Volterra.
The villa offers several rooms for newlyweds and guests, in addition to the fabulous garden with a view for the wedding ceremony. The reception and cocktail hour might take place in different spots. All around, nature is the king. Villa di Ulignano is a great venue for every wedding photographer as well! Book it in advance due to the high demand.
Castello di Casole
The Castello di Casole is the ideal choice for those looking for luxury in the simplicity of a Tuscan environment. The property has greatly renovated an ancient abandoned Tuscan village, which now houses a luxury hotel and several villas with views.
The castle can host big weddings, and it’s the best fit for elopements and honeymoons. The big theatre with a view is perfect for any ceremony. It’s well connected to the most significant cities of Tuscany such as Florence and Siena.
Villa Sermolli is one of the most singular venues of Tuscany. It’s located in Buggiano Castello, in northern Tuscany, half an hour away from Florence. The villa is a superb example of the union of nature and architecture. Preserved by massive walls, it looks like staying in a garden with lots of orange trees.
Villa Sermolli is perfect for small weddings. It provides a terrific terrace with a view, ideal for the cocktail hour, as well as a lush garden for reception and frescoed rooms. Being situated in a small Tuscan village, you’ll find a lovely church for religious ceremonies at the top.
Buranco Vineyard is located in Monterosso al Mare, less than five-minute walking from the beautiful whitewashed-sand beaches of the Monterosso al Mare.
The venue is situated on a terrace with acres of olive groves around. It doesn’t provide any accommodation for the guests, but lots of areas for every stage of the reception. It is the ideal choice for small and big weddings in the Cinque Terre.
If you’re looking for something to impress your guests, the Cinque Terre are one the most authentic and little-known places of Italy.
The Tenuta Mocajo is located in southern Tuscany, close to Volterra and Bolgheri, in the land of the best Italian wines. If you’re looking for a rustic venue in the countryside, Tenuta il Mocajo is the best fit!
You can plan the reception in the pretty courtyard or indoor. You can also benefit from a great swimming pool with a view and of a small lovely church. You can stay in one of the villas of the property and spend the rest of time visiting large cellars and drinking great wines. What could be better?
